The meeting also asked for the impartial and judicial inquiry against the breaches occurred in Flood Protective Bund that played havoc in Shahdadkot, Larkana and Dadu districts.
The meeting also asked the government to repair those lined watercourses, from its own expenses, which were damaged as a result of the recent cyclone and flood in the province.
The meeting observed that Sindh Government has recently declared ten districts of the province as calamity hit as a result of last years heavy rains and also announced remission in land tax, water tax, local cess and drainage cess for Kharif 2006-2007, however, in some districts, the same taxes have been recovered by the departments concerned.
The meeting demanded the government to refund of the taxes, which collected from the growers prior to declaring their respective areas as calamity hit. The meeting asked for formation of a high powered board comprising stakeholders for control of illegal cutting of trees and pollution as well as the check on human negligence, that is causing flood and drought in the province.
The meeting appreciated the decision of the government for granting subsidy of Rs 470 on DAP bag and requested the authorities concerned to ensure strict implementation on the decision.
