Sindh Chief Secretary Shakil Durrani has stressed on the need to develop a conducive atmosphere to aware the people, particularly, parents about the importance of education so that they can send their children to the educational institutes.
Appreciating the role of donor agencies he said that co-operation of donor agencies is highly appreciated to this effect and emphasised that need-based assistance enable the educators to ensure reforms in the education sector.
He expressed his views while talking to a delegation of World Bank experts comprising Ms Tahseer Syed and Hanid Mukhtar, who called on him at his office here on Thursday to exchange views in the light of their meetings with various stakeholders including ACS (D) P&D and Secretary Education Sindh.
Shakil Durrani apprised the WB delegates about the reforms in education sector, which include payment of stipend to female students up to lower secondary/middle classes, provision of free textbooks to male and female students up to matriculation.
He said that the plan is being chalked out to reorganise the scattered schools in far flung areas with a view to facilitate students with teaching staff, potable water and toilet facilities etc.
Sindh CS told that shelter-less schools are being covered while strategic efforts are being undertaken to appoint teachers on merit while their postings shall strictly be made in areas of their domicile. The renovation of school building also continues, he added. The WB delegation expressed satisfaction over the reforms and assured their co-operation to this effect.
