Banks start functioning normally after two-day holiday

All commercial bank branches have started functioning normally after two days holiday, Sunday last being the regular weekly holiday and Monday last being holiday for purpose of closing of accounts.
In the various commercial bank branches there was substantial withdrawal of cash on Tuesday. In Karachi, however, the inclement weather and threat of heavy rains resulted in the closing of commercial bank branches around 4-30 pm.
There was also some panic created by the event relating to Lal Masjid in Islamabad. In Saddar area, workers of political parties raised slogans against the action of the security agencies against Lal Masjid. But when police mobiles appeared on the scene, the slogan raising persons melted away into side streets and shopping area.
