Hosts Thailand wrapped-up their preparations for this month's Asian Cup with a 2-0 victory over Qatar on Monday. The Thais got off to a good start when Tawan Sripan put them ahead after eight minutes before Sutee Suksomkit added a second with a 69th minute spot kick.
The two sides met on Saturday and were drawing 1-1 at halftime before torrential rain led to the game being abandoned. Thailand will play Iraq in Pool A on Saturday in the opening match of the tournament, which they will co-host with Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam. Qatar face defending champions Japan in their Pool B opener in Hanoi on July 9.
