Former speaker of National Assembly Syed Fakhr Imam who is a leader of PPP has termed the provincial budget without the NFC Award as 'unconstitutional' and accused the Sindh government for not taking issue of the NFC award with federal government seriously for the last three years.
Talking to journalists he raised objections over huge allocation for non-development sector, for what he called luxury and said that despite big province the Punjab allocated half of its budget for the development and reduced the expenditure of the administration. He said that the budget was passed on majority basis, which he said was not a pro-people budget.
Fakhr Imam said that opposition wanted discussion on each and every budgetary grant in the House but Speaker saved the ministers. He said the opposition left no option except boycott when Speaker did not heard the opposition. He said that the government ignored the education, health, agriculture, irrigation, and infrastructure and women sector in the budget.
Imam said that opposition moved large number of cut motions but Speaker did not allow the opposition members to talk on these cut motions. The PPP leader also showed some photographs in his press conference and claimed that these were the pictures taken on 12 May. He claimed that MQM workers, carrying party flags and Klashnikovs could be seen in these pictures at airport. He said more than 200 people were killed in thunderstorm and rain in Karachi but the chief minister stated that it was the result of falling of billboards in city.
