The average price of Bangladesh teas fell nominally to 85.67 taka ($1.24) per kg at the weekly auction on Tuesday, brokers said. "More than 1.26 million kg were sold at an average price of 85.67 taka per kg, down 0.17 taka from the previous sale. The withdrawal percentage was 8.62," said a statement from National Brokers Limited, the country's largest tea broker.
Buyers from Pakistan and Bangladesh participated in the weekly auction.
"Despite higher demand the average price fell slightly as some Fannings grades depreciated a bit," said a broker. Some 1,000 kg of well made Churamoni Dust realised the highest price of 139 taka per kg while other grades sold at between 65 and 125 taka.
