Land and financial supports will be provided to the needy women entrepreneurs in the near future, Minister of Commerce and Tourism, Adil Siddque said here on Saturday. He said this while addressing the "All About Lifestyle 2007," exhibition held at the Expo Centre.
Adil Siddiqui along with Vice President Zubair Tufail Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), Shehla Javed Aksain Chairperson Woman Standing Committee and Mehreen Senior Vice Chairperson inaugurated the exhibition.
The three-day exhibition was started on Friday and ended on Sunday, attended by the women entrepreneurs from Hyderabad, Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Peshawar and other parts of the country.
Adil lauded the women participation in the workshop and said these activities must be continue to share each others views over the pros and cons and objectives of their works.
The Standing Committee on woman entrepreneurs presented various kinds of life style products such as working and marketing capacity including branding 40 stalls of woman entrepreneurs.
The women displayed not only hand embroidered items but also jewellery and various type of decorative products. The minister gave away an amount to a lady who is running a business of hand made shoes and jewellery items to improve her products at the competitive prices to the retail outlet. Mehreen said all needy women of the four provinces need financial empowerment to make themselves able to do tackle the new challenges of the world.
Owing to power breakdown in the city, owners of the stalls said the exhibition could not attract as much as they were expected. Sunday was the last day of exhibition, and also being weekly holiday, the event seen better turnout. The woman entrepreneurs were excited about their fashion show of cottage industry, apparel and garments.
This was aimed at taking women entrepreneurs towards branding from the outset of the show. As their planning seemed quite unprofessional and unrehearsed.
The Minister of Commerce and Industry Adil Siddiqui came only for the award ceremony as he was extremely busy with the rain effected people in Karachi. It was interesting to see that 10 awards were given basically to manufacturers for branding and customer care.
While some were deserving of awards. Chairperson of women entrepreneurs standing committee FPCCI requested the minister to present her them award as well. The quality of the show and presentation was not up to the mark which it could have been if proper planning and management and time were spent for this event.
Two paintings were dominated by Najma Art Gallery which were bought by the minister Adil Siddiqui. Moinur Arif exhibited painting 'Dignity' was for the women entrepreneurs' fund for the FPCCI and artists Junaid's painting money entitled 'Respect' was given to the rain affected people in Karachi as a donation.
