South Korea's Lee Dong-hwan captured his first title on the Japanese men's tour at the Mizuno Open after Sunday's final round was halted by heavy fog.
The 20-year-old was three strokes ahead when tournament organisers decided to abandon the final round after waiting for two hours for visibility to improve. "I'm overjoyed to win," said Lee, whose first JGTO Tour victory earned him a place in the British Open at Carnoustie, Scotland next month.
"It would have been even better to win having played the full four days. My next goal is to make the cut at the British Open." Lee, a former South Korean amateur champion, was the overnight leader following three successive rounds of 68 in Nishinomiya, western Japan. He parred his first three holes and was on 12 under par before play was halted at around 1130 local time.
