'PSEB receives meagre grant for IT industry uplift'

Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) receives a very meager grant from the government for its IT industry's development programmes, sources told Business Recorder. They said that the PSEB received a grant of less than rupees three million a month, which included payroll and operating expenses of 19 full time officers working in the three major cities.
"This government funding is insufficient to meet the expenses of PSEB as we have started some projects like Software Technology Park (STP), human capital, marketing, public policy, company capability development, facilitation and strategy and research", sources explained. They said that the growth of IT sector depended upon the rapid economic growth of a country. He said that in spite of insufficient funds PSEB had initiated a number of plans for development of youth like internship programme that had taken 3,000 interns with 80 percent getting permanent employment.
