The National Association of Business, Professional and Agricultural Women (ABP&AW) organised Business Women Bazar with collaboration of the city district government at the Safari park on Saturday.
The main purpose behind the holding these seminars or functions are to support or help the women to setting up the business at the domestic or home level to make them able to support their family, National president Shameim Kazmi said.
It is the present government, which is paying due attention to the women development works despite limited sources but it has to improve its efforts to get the desirable purposes, shed said.
It is highly expected that these positive measures, those are underway at the provincial level to comply with the needs of the women and make them proactive partners in the national development works, she hoped.
Famous Tv artist Jaha Ara Hai was also present at the occasion said that housands of women are still helpless in some parts of the country as they were not able to avail the provided facilities or help due to their illiteracy and also because of lack of skills.
The chief guest of the function was a lady, Shamshad Bagum, who is doing business of bed sheets and embroidery dresses and so shed is able to earn money to meet expenditures.
Shameim said that Shamshad is hard working lady and is an example for others, who blames others or government for not providing better jobs.
In the rural areas, the parents must send their children to school for the basic education then they especially (women) will gain confidence because they will share each others views and styles of their lives pattern, which is also part of their academic activity, Shamshad said.Because, shed narrated that due to lack of knowledge or education, she is facing hardship in convincing the customers for the right price.
She said that the government should increase the number of setting up of the vocational centtres to redress the poor parents', who cannot admit their children in the 'A' and 'O' level schools.
Shameim stressed the need to setting up the separate directorate for the women development so the women will get training in various skills in all provinces of the country.
No doubt knowledge is power but we cannot reject the fact that without skill a man or women is not useful or effective in the society. Equipped with knowledge and skills will help in achieving the legal medical facilities provided by the government, as well as protection against discrimination.
She said that the government should provide hostels facility to those employed away from home or are homeless or in distress. So many women entrepreneurs at the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) basis are among us and most of them cannot visit or join us to take part in these trade activities due to unavailability of said facilities, she said.
She appreciated the role of women political schools, providing training to the lady councillors, making them able to various income-generating skills and she also said that women's issues should be solved in an effective manner.
