The Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and all the five city associations of trade and industry have voluntarily offered Karachi Electric Supply Corporations (KESC) to carry out six-hour load shedding in industrial areas to normalise power supply in residential areas.
Talking to Business Recorder, KCCI President Majyd Aziz said that a meeting was held on the directive of Sindh Governor Dr Ishart-ul-Ibad Khan with the Provincial Industries Secretary, KESC representatives, KCCI president and chairman of all the five industrial associations.
He further said that KESC will carry out three-hour load shedding from 12 midnight to 3am in half industrial area of Site, Korangi, Federal "B" Area, North Karachi, Landhi, Super Highway and Hub and from 3am to 6am in other half industrial areas He said that this load shedding would save around 125 to 150 MW power which would be supplied to residential areas.
He said that it all on trial bases for four days and if this proved to be beneficial for residential areas it would be continued otherwise it would be stop. He said that this would provide a relief to workforce and has sound sleep and perform duty properly Later on a meeting was held with City Nazim Mustafa Kamal and informed him about the decision.
