The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) have agreed to provide data support to each other.
SBP Governor, Dr Shamshad Akhtar, said in an exclusive interview with Business Recorder pointed out that there is a mutual understanding between the two regulatory bodies - the SBP and the Securities Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), under an MoU for providing required data.
"We always co-operated with the SECP and we could provide data to them if and when required", she said and added that the central bank has data of all bank account holders with their NIC numbers.
She said we have one of the world''s best Credit Improvement Bureau (CIB). "Although there is not 100 percent transparent data with the CNICs numbers available with the SBP, whatever is available it is comprehensive and fool proof information about all the banks'' clients".
