Recently Indian filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali was assaulted on the sets of his upcoming film 'Padmavati', though everyone has been condemning the violent attack but an Indian political party has reportedly come out in their support.
A ruling BJP leader on Sunday announced a reward of Rs 10,000 per slap with a shoe on filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali for trying to distort history in his movie under production, Deccan Chronicle reported. Akhilesh Khandelwal, chairman of Hosangabad Municipal Corporation in Madhya Pradesh, announced the bounty on his Facebook wall.
Later speaking to journalists, he said that he does not regret announcing a reward to get Sanjay Leela Bhansali slapped. "They (such film personalities) are trying to distort our history to show us in poor light in public. We can no more remain silent. We consider it our responsibility to rein in such forces", Khandelwal was quoted as saying.
Bansali was slapped and assaulted by a group of Rajput Karni Sena workers at Jaigarh Fort during the production of his latest film in Jaipur. Another political figure Digvijaya Singh (All India Congress Committee general secretary) alleged that the attack was backed by the BJP government in Rajasthan.
B-town is shaken by this attack and called it 'shameful'. Several celebrities took to their Twitter handles, protesting and condemning the attacks, demanding justice for the filmmaker.
