PM felicitates nation on Pakistan's re-election to UNESCO Executive Board

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Thursday felicitated the nation on Pakistan's re-election to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Executive Board for a period of four years.

Pakistan was elected unopposed after Iran, the only other candidate, withdrew from contest in favour of Pakistan.

The Prime Minister said that re-election to UNESCO Executive Board soon after election to the non-permanent seat of UN Security Council demonstrated a recognition of the responsible role, Pakistan played in the international community and also a manifestation that the notion of isolation is wrong.
