LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday ordered immediate suspension of Medical Superintendent Jinnah Hospital on non-provision of proper treatment to female patient of Kasur in the hospital.
The Chief Minister directed to take strict action against the doctors and other staff responsible of negligence and laxity in the incident. He said non-provision of immediate and proper facilities to patient and make her lay on the floor was the worst negligence and inefficiency which had no justification.
He said those showing negligence in the tragic incident would not be spared and made an example after taking action against them so that no poor patient could face such difficulty in future.
He reviewed the preliminary report with regard to incident of death of the female patient of Kasur at Jinnah Hospital, here, and said the government was spending billions of rupees for the improvement of health sector and provision of treatment to the people.
Provision of modern facilities had been ensured in the hospitals but despite this, non-provision of treatment facility to any patient and leaving unattended was very lamentable, he added.
Shehbaz Sharif said not only negligence was displayed in provision of immediate medical facilities to the patient but a very irresponsible attitude was also shown by making her lay down on the floor. Such inhuman act could not be expected from the persons belonging to health sector, he added.
He said the government had given resources and giving results was responsibility of doctors and other staff.
The Chief Minister said he would not tolerate death of a patient due to non-provision of proper medical facilities.
He directed that such incidents should not occur in future and added that provision of best medical facilities to the patients be ensured in every nook and corner of the province at all costs.
Provincial Ministers Kh. Salman Rafiq, Imran Nazir, Secretary Specialized and Medical Education, Secretary Primary and Secondary Health and other officials were present on the occasion.
