Former foreign minister Agha Shahi has passed away, a Foreign Ministry statement said on Wednesday. "It is with great sadness that Ministry announces the passing away of Agha Shahi.
Former foreign minister and eminent international personality whose long and dedicated services to defend and promote the causes of Pakistan will be remembered and respected by the people of Pakistan," the statement said.
He was a great internationalist, who espoused and promoted the interests of peace and human rights in the world. "As we grieve over the departure of an icon of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, we offer our deepest and most profound condolences to the bereaved family," the statement added. The Qul Khawani will be held at House No 8, St No 3, F-7/3, Islamabad, at 4.40 pm on Friday.
PRIME MINISTER CONDOLES: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has condoled the death of former foreign minister Agha Shahi, saying that he was an outstanding diplomat and made valuable contributions in formulating Pakistan's foreign policy first as a civil servant and later as country's foreign minister.
He recalled the services of Agha Shahi and said that he had vast experience in bilateral and multilateral diplomacy and made his mark within the country and abroad through his deep and perceptive understanding of international relations. He prayed to Almighty Allah to rest him in eternal peace.
