LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has said the way elected representatives, officers, doctors, nurses and paramedical staff have participated in the war against dengue virus as a team is highly appreciable.
"Without their coordinated efforts, neither the worst dengue virus of the history could be faced nor thousands of lives could be saved," he observed.
Presiding over a meeting held to review the steps taken for the eradication of dengue virus, here Moday, he said, whatever humanly possible for eradication of dengue virus is being done and medicines and machinery have been imported by air so that best medical facilities could be provided to the patients without any loss of time. He disclosed more five cell separators have also reached Lahore and these are being installed in Multan, Gujranwala, Sahiwal, Rawalpindi and Lahore.
The Chief Minister said that the training of general practitioners for viral diseases particularly elimination of dengue is of great importance and after awareness regarding dengue and necessary training for treatment of this disease, they would be able to provide better treatment to the patients.
He said performance of surveillance teams with regard to eradication of dengue larvae is commendable and Sri Lankan medical team has also appreciated their performance.
Earlier, chairmen of town committees and secretaries of various departments informed about the steps taken for curbing dengue and eliminating its larvae.
