Haji Abdul Majeed and Muhammad Tariq Aziz on Saturday elected as chairman and vice-chairman of Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (Reap), respectively.
The election was held under the chairmanship of current Reap chairman Barrister Syed Najaf Hussain Shah. Both candidates got 18 votes each out of 30 members of the managing committee, which was the electoral college for this election. Muhammad Hasan Ali elected as treasurer unopposed.
Reap secretary Taimoor Haider Gill announced official results after balloting.
Newly elected office-bearers talking to Business Recorder said they would try to increase rice export to cross $1 billion this year. They thanked Reap members, especially Abdul Rahim Janoo and Syed Najaf Hussain Shah for their support.
