ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said on Friday Turkish media can play a significant role in highlighting Pakistan's efforts on war on terror besides improving image in the world community.
She said that cooperation by Turkish media would help Pakistan improve its image in Europe and other parts of the world.
The information minister said that recent agreement signed by the two brotherly countries for enhancing media cooperation would be helpful in this regard.
Dr. Firdous said that Turkish Television (TRT) and PTV had linkages and there is need to strengthen this cooperation with the modern technical equipment and programs.
She said discussions had been held for the purpose to improve media relations with modern equipment and tools, besides introducing programs and training.
Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan while talking to Pakistan Television said that Turkish media can also provide information to rest of the world regarding floods that hit many areas of Pakistan.
The minister observed that foreign diplomacy has been converted into media diplomacy throughout the world.
She said "We have empowered the media and Turkey can play vital role in promoting the image of Pakistan in the Europe and the other parts of the world."
She expressed dismay over the negative role of international media regarding Pakistan.
Dr Awan said that true picture and success stories of Pakistan on war on terror was not being given due space.
She hoped that Turkish media would play a significant role in promoting Pakistan's efforts regarding war on terror across the world.
The Information Minister lauded the efforts of the Turkish Government for helping flood affected people of Pakistan last year.
She said that recent heavy rains and flood had played havoc in different areas of Pakistan and there is an urgent need to revive the infrastructure and normal situation in these affected areas.
She urged the world community particularly the people and the Government of Turkey to come forward for supporting the flood victims of Pakistan.
