KARACHI: Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) employees expressed satisfaction on getting two months salary amounting to Rs 760 million and the assurance about payment of another tranche three months' salary soon.
Pakistan Steel has also got Rs 320 million from the Federal Ministry of Finance for paying the families of the retired employees- who have expired- as provident fund, gratuity, etc., a senior PSM officer told APP here on Saturday.
PSM employees' salaries were released on Friday afternoon. However, the majority could draw the amount on Saturday, he said.
The management has also assured the employees of giving three other salaries very shortly.
"Our management is seriously pursuing for other three salaries. We are told, PSM soon would get this amount," he added.
The employees and their families were happy to get the salaries; especially before Eid-ul-Azha.
A couple of days back, Federal Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar had announced and then approved the payment of two months salary to the Pakistan Steel employees who were frustrated on the delay.
