Pakistan likely to face Adil Rashid in last Test

Published August 9, 2016 Updated August 9, 2016 11:36am

imageAdil Rashid has been considered for Pakistan finale as England gave genuine thought to playing two spinners in the fourth Test against Pakistan at The Oval by giving a home debut to the leg-break bowler.

The hosts are 2-1 up with one to play in the series after digging out from a deficit to win the third Test by 141 at Edgbaston on Sunday.

Rashid has been in and around the England squad all season, but yet to play on home soil after making all his three vocation Test appearances against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates a year ago.

Be that as it may, with England set to visit Bangladesh and India - where pitches frequently give a lot of swing to moderate bowlers - not long from now, Rashid could be rung at The Oval in south London as a second spinner with Moeen Ali.

According to British media, Inquired as to whether England were tempted to pick Rashid for the fourth Test, which begins on Thursday, England coach Trevor Bayliss answered, "Extremely, we saw a year ago at The Oval, the wicket had a bit in it for everybody."

Rashid took seven for 61 in champions Yorkshire's County Championship win over Warwickshire a week ago, in the wake of being discharged from England's squad.

"I've believed Rashid's been a chance for the last a few Tests that we've played," Bayliss added.
