Coach, players should refrain from crossing limits: Razzaq

Published Updated

ISLAMABAD: All-rounder Abdul Razzaq has said that coach and players should refrain from crossing their respective limits otherwise it can trigger trouble within the setup.

"I think too much interference triggers problems, it does not only put pressure on the players but on the coach as well", said Abdul Razzaq while talking to a private news channel.

At the time when the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is pondering upon hiring a new coach for the national team, all kinds of observations are coming to the fore. Due to the history of tussles between players and coaches in the past, the majority of experts are endorsing an idea of having a foreign coach for the cricket team.

The recent bitter row between the former coach Waqar Younis and ex-skipper Shahid Khan Afridi made everyone, including the players, cautious in their remarks on the issue.

"The coach should not have an ego problem, it hampers progress", Razzaq, who has played 46 Tests, 262 ODIs & 26 T20's for Pakistan, said.

The PCB has appointed a three-member committee including Intikhab Alam, Col (R) Naushad Ali and Zaheer Abbass with Ramiz Raja as their aide, for hiring services of a new coach.

Waqar Younis resigned from the job before the tour of Zimbabwe on medical ground. In the meantime, the PCB appointed former chief selector Mohsin Hassan Khan as the interim coach for the Sri Lankan series to be played in the United Arab Emirates.
