Plan to boost industrial activities being implemented: Sindh governor
Sindh Governor, Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan has said that Sindh government is implementing a co-ordinated programme for promotion of industrial activities throughout Sindh and along with recovery and restoration of illegally occupied plots for cottage and small industries, steps are being taken for expansion in Nooriabad, Kotri and Hyderabad industrial estates.
He said 5000 acres of land is being made available for Nooriabad industrial estate. He was talking to a delegation of Nooriabad Association of Trade and Industry, led by its President Fazal Karim Dadabhoy, which called on him at Governor House here.
The Governor said special attention is being paid to the development of Nooriabad for its significance of location and being a conducive area for industries and it is considered the best area of the world for textile industry.
He noted with delight that the number of industries in the area has increased from 22 in the past to 50 functional units at present while another 20 were under completion.
Provincial Industries Minister, Adil Siddiqi, who was also present on the occasion, said the government is providing all possible facilities for industrial development and a good deal of progress was being achieved in this regard due to the interest being taken by Governor Ishrat-ul-Ebad. He told the industrialists to join this journey of development practically.
Fazal Karim Dadabhoy presented his proposals with regard to facilities of water, education, health, roads and other requirements.
He said the Government is making best efforts for provision of facilities to industries and establishment of law and order and industrialists welcome this.
Governor Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan said that the objective of government's all out efforts is to associate the people of far-flung areas in the journey to progress and to bring improvement in their living conditions.
He informed that supply of water to the area will be increased to 5 million gallons daily and directed the DCO Dadu to work on finalising the Dao Dam scheme so that water could also be supplied to the population besides industrial area.
He issued directive for increased education and hospital facilities and provision of one fire brigade. He also emphasised upon the construction and repair of Mohammed Hussain Dadabhoy Road.
Besides the delegation members and Industries Minister Adil Siddiqi, Principal Secretary Brigadier Akhtar Zamin (Retd), Secretary Industries Nasar Hayat, DCO Dadu Ilmuddin Biloo, MD SITE Hashim Raza Zaidi and other officials were also present on the occasion.
