Paying his first visit to the forward areas in occupied Kashmir, Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani on Tuesday assessed the situation after India and Pakistan agreed on a cease-fire and also monitored the progress of ongoing fencing work in Rajouri-Poonch sector.
Advani accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister, Chief Secretary, DGP and other senior army officers flew to Bhimbergali forward area in Rajouri-Poonch sector, said the official sources.
The Deputy Prime Minister visited various forward posts and locations and monitored the progress of border fencing along LoC and ground situation in the post-ceasefire period, added the sources, according to a news report received here.
Islamabad has already lodged a protest against the fencing of LoC as it is in violation of the agreements between the two countries, further saying the fencing work recorded increase especially after the announcement of unilateral cease-fire along the Line of Control and Siachen in November last year.
The Deputy Prime Minister later reviewed with top military and civil brass the situation with regard to security and militancy after the cease-fire.
The Indo-Pak cease-fire has witnessed no violation on the either side in Indian Held Kashmir during the two months since its announcement in November last, a defence spokesman said on Monday. "Not a single bullet or shell has been fired from either side and the cease-fire is holding," he said adding, it would continue to hold.
There was no violation from either sides reported from anywhere along Line of Control, International Border and Actual Ground Position Level in the held Kashmir since the declaration of cease-fire, expressed the spokesman.
