old_ppl_copy_copyHYDERABAD: International Day of the Older Persons will be observed on October 1 under the theme "The Growing Opportunities and Challenges of Global Ageing" all over the world including Pakistan.

The older persons' day aims at recognising the contributions of seniors to human and economic development and drawing attention to the opportunities and challenges of global demographic ageing.

The International Day of Older Persons is a special day for older persons or senior citizens all over the world.

The day throws light on the aspect that how essential it is to restore family and social values and build the structures that reflect these values.

On December 14, 1990, the United Nations General Assembly fixed October 1 as the International Day of Older Persons.

The day was observed for the first time throughout the world on October 1, 1991.
