LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif Wednesday said that centers had been set up for the payment of compensation to the owners of the land acquired for Orange Line Metro Train project and extra payment would also be made for the constructed building, loss to business and expenses for shifting of residence.
He said the Punjab government had allocated a big amount of Rs 20 billion for payment of compensation for the land. He said that affected persons would be immediately paid compensation through one-window operation.
He was addressing a meeting through video link at Civil Secretariat to review the process of payment of compensation to the owners of the land acquired for Orange Line Metro Train project. The Chief Minister said that interests of the persons affected by the project would be safeguarded and demands of justice would be fulfilled.
He said that separate arrangements had been made for men and women at one-window payment centers. He said that after verification of complete documents, cheques of compensation would be given on the same day and full payment would be made to the owners of the land within a few days.
Shahbaz Sharif said that he was personally monitoring the matters regarding payment of compensation. He further said that all necessary facilities be provided to the owners of the land at the payment centers and Provincial Ministers and administrative officers should remain present at these centers. He said that transport facility should also be provided to the land owners for visiting payment centers. The Chief Minister said that those criticizing public welfare projects were enemies of development, adding that metro train project would provide modern, dignified and international standard transport facilities to the citizens.
DG LDA gave a briefing on the procedure of payment of compensation to the owners of land and facilities provided at payment centers.
