NEW DELHI: Indian shares opened 1.8 percent higher on Friday, in contrast to their Asian peers that fell after low expectations from a key jobs data dragged down Wall Street overnight. At 9:16 a.m. (0346 GMT), the 30-share BSE index pared gains to 0.76 percent at 16,802.29 points, with 19 of its components in the green.
The broader 50-share NSE index was trading 0.38 percent higher at 5,019.80 points.
