HONG KONG: Hong Kong stocks dropped 3.08 percent on Friday as selling fever gripped world markets over fears for the state of the global economy.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index fell 616.35 points to 19,399.92 on turnover of HK$81.93 billion ($10.51 billion).
Chinese shares closed down 0.98 percent, with dealers also fretting about world events.
The Shanghai Composite Index points ended 25.11 points lower at 2,534.36 on turnover of 73.8 billion yuan ($11.5 billion).
