TOKYO: Japanese shares closed up 0.23 percent on Tuesday, lifted by a continued rally on Wall Street with sentiment brightened by Google's plan to buy cellphone maker Motorola Mobility.
The Nikkei index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange added 21.02 points to close at 9,107.43. The Topix index rose 0.25 percent or 1.94 points to 779.06.
