ISLAMABAD: A delegation of newly elected body of Lahore High Court Bar Association Rawalpindi Bench led by its President Sheikh Mohammad Suleman and General Secretary Mohammad Faisal Butt here on Wednesday called on Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan at Punjab House.
The Interior Minister felicitated the newly elected body and said that their election was manifestation of the trust of the lawyers community upon their leadership qualities and expressed the hope that they would measure up to the trust of the lawyers' community.
Chaudhry Nisar said that the lawyers are the frontline soldiers of democracy and have pivotal role in provision of justice, establishing rule of law and strengthening of democracy in the country.
He said that lawyers community has made great contributions and sacrifices for democracy in the country and expressed the hope that they would continue making efforts, with similar zeal and spirit, for further strengthening of democracy and ensuring provision of justice to the people.
Sheikh Mohammad Suleman, representing his delegation, thanked the minister and appreciated the efforts of the present government and especially the Interior Minister for the betterment of law and order situation in the country.
Overall situation in the country, law and order and war against militants and extremists was discussed in detail during the meeting.
The delegation also apprised the minister about certain issues being faced by them.
The interior minister assured the delegation that every possible effort would be made to address their issues at the earliest.
