SHANGHAI: China's benchmark stock index opened 1.4 percent higher on Wednesday, buoyed by a powerful technical rebound in global markets, including a rally in US stocks on Tuesday.
The Shanghai Composite Index rose to 2,562.4 points after falling sharply over the past three trading sessions on the back of global market turmoil propelled by worries over Western debt problems including an S&P downgrade of US credit.
