ISTANBUL: Turkish shares tumbled as much as 6 percent on Monday as investors worried about the impact of the global financial jitters and weighed up the Turkish central bank's response to the situation.
A fall below technical support levels at 54,450 and 53,675 points accelerated the fall in the main Istanbul share index , which was down 5.87 percent at 52,961.21 points at 1233 GMT, underperforming the emerging markets benchmark index which fell 2.66 percent.
