PML-N to take initiative for new provinces: Hashmi
MULTAN: Senior Vice President of PML-N, Makhdoom Javed Hashmi on Saturday assured that his party would take first initiative to announce new provinces.
Addressing a press conference here at his residence, he lamented that whosoever speaks for the rights of the people in the country was called as a rebel.
Quoting example of India, he said, "In India, new provinces were created only on administrative basis."
"I have been talking about new provinces since the creation of Pakistan when the total population of the country was about 30 million and now it has swelled to 180 million," he observed.
He said India, where there were only seven provinces after its creation and now it had been increased to 28 while a plan was underway to create ten more provinces.
He stressed the need for evolving across the board consultation among all the political parties for making new provinces in the larger interest of the country.
