MUMBAI: Indian shares rallied more than 1 percent in early trade on Monday, in line with Asian equities, after top US lawmakers struck a deal to avoid a debt default. Lenders led the gainers.
At 9:17 a.m. (0347 GMT), the 30-share BSE index was up 1.12 percent at 18,400.77 points, with 29 components advancing.
The 50-share NSE index was up 1.1 percent at 5,540.75 points.
