ISLAMABAD: Parliamentary Secretary on Interior, Maryam Aurangzaib Friday told the National Assembly that government is taking steps to end Shisha smoking in ICT.
Responding a question raised by Shakila Luqman, she said a proposal is under way with Interior Ministry to increase the punishment and sealing the hotels offering Shisha. The present punishment prescribed in the law is insufficient, she added.
She, however, said the DCO and concern magistrates are conducting sudden visits of different hotels to keep check on offence of Shisha smoking.
To another query raised by Dr. Azra Fazal, she said the currently 3032 buses, vans and mini buses are plying in across the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
The schools and colleges have their own transport system which is provided to the students who wish to avail this facility, she informed.
Responding a question raised by Sheikh Salahuddin, Parliamentary Secretary said 99,520,559 Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) and 18,094,285 Children Registration Certificates (CRCs)have been issued by NADRA till date.
