KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Finance Murad Ali Shah in his budget speech on Friday informed that keeping in view the decision of federal government, provincial government would adopt same measures for increase in pay, allowances and pension of its employees.
Moreover, he said, the proactive approach was adopted by the provincial government to resolve the problems of young doctors.
“Total Rs.2.9 billion have been allocated for doctors that include 50% salary raise of house-job doctors, post-graduate doctors, rural incentives, non-practicing allowances and casualty compensation,” highlighted the minister.
He said the proposed package include the monthly salary for house-job doctors at Rs24,000 from the current Rs12,000. The stipend of PGs is proposed to be increased from Rs12,000 to Rs42,500 per month.
To encourage doctors to serve in rural areas, the rural incentive allowance for doctors is also proposed that include Rs6,000 for doctors from BS-17 to 18 while Rs8,000 for BS-19 and 20.
Additional Pay of Rs15,000 to medical officers of BS-17 and Rs10,000 for medical doctors of BS 18 to 20 is proposed.
Regarding the Non Practicing Allowance (NPA), he said it is proposed to raise to Rs.4000 from Rs500 for BS-17 and 18 doctors while Rs6,000 from previous Rs700 for BS-19 to 20.
The casualty allowance of Rs6,000 per month to casualty medical officers and senior casualty medical officers is also proposed to be given.
The hard-work allowance for the doctors treating patients of infectious and contagious diseases such as TB, Bird Flu etc. is proposed to be given Rs6,000 per month.
He also informed that Rs1,500,000 for a family of doctor who fall victim of targeted killing or a contagious disease would be given under a compensatory package, is also proposed.
The proposal also include the implementation of four tier and three tier formula under which 1500 doctors of general cadre, dentist and special cadre are suggested to be promoted.
