PM GilaniMULTAN: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani said on Saturday that PPP-led government was using all resources for the welfare of the people and development of the country.

Addressing a gathering of notables at the Circuit House here, the prime minister said that the PPP-led government served the people from Karachi to Khyber and had provided equal funds for development to all MNAs whether they were political rivals or allies of the government.

Moreover, Gilani said, the government also provided funds to minority MNAs besides senators.

No political prisoner remained confined to jails during the tenure of PPP-led government, Gilani said.

He said, "We have added 2000 megawatt of power to the national grid that has reduced load shedding by 30 percent." He further said that the government would be able to produce another 2000 megawatt of electricity within the next two years.

Government provided relief to the masses despite the negative impact on the national economy caused by the global recession.

Gilani said it was the second PPP-led government that had taken the credit of presenting the fourth national budget after the government of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

The prime minister said that PPP took the lead in initiating the politics of reconciliation to strengthen the country.

He said that the PPP had always strengthened democracy and worked for supremacy of constitution, dignity of the country, and rule of law while taking inspiration from the vision of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.
