At least one dead in east Libya fighting-doctor
BENGHAZI: At least one rebel was killed late on Saturday when rebels clashed with forces loyal to Muammar Qadhafi between rebel-held Ajdabiyah and an oil town to the west in the Libyan leader's control, a doctor said.
The doctor at a hospital in the eastern city of Benghazi also said four were wounded in the clash and said the funeral of the rebel who was killed would take place on Sunday.
Fighting erupted late on Saturday around Arbaein checkpoint, 40 km (25 miles) west of Ajdabiyah and on the road to Brega, an oil town that has changed hands several times since the uprising began in mid-February. Brega is now in Gaddafi's control.
In the early weeks of the Libyan uprising, fighting on the front between the rebel-held east and Qadhafi's forces in the west raged to-and-fro from Ajdabiyah along a more than 200-km (125-mile) stretch of coast to the west.
Clashes are now more sporadic and the front has not shifted for weeks.
