RAWALPINDI: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi Bench on Tuesday directed the Punjab government to restart "Sasti Roti" scheme across the province to facilitate the needy.
Admitting the plea filed by petitioner Rashid Ali over suspension of the scheme, Justice Suhail Iqbal Bhatti directed the provincial government to resume it and submit the compliance report on November 28.
Earlier, the court had sought para-wise comments twice from the government over the petition but it did not reply.
The provincial government had started the project to provide staple food at affordable price to the less resourced people during its previous tenure, which was suspended a few months ago.
