ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's Ambassador to China Masood Ahmed Khan said on Sunday that China has always supported Pakistan as a good and trustworthy friend and their relationship is growing with the passage of time.
Talking to a private news channel, he said China wanted peace in the region and its leadership supported Pakistan to achieve regional stability.
He said Pakistan had agreements with China on civil nuclear cooperation which was vital for meeting its energy demand.
He said China has supported Pakistan in combating terrorism and commended the role of the government in eradicating the menace of terrorism and extremism.
China steadfastly stood with Pakistan after the Abbottabad incident, he added.
Replying to a question regarding the US reservations over nuclear energy deal with China, he said that the United States itself had signed an agreement with India on civil nuclear energy projects.
He said China is time tested and close friend of Pakistan and due to these ties, several projects are being completed with the help of Chinese experts.
He said thousands of Chinese are engaged in different enterprises in Pakistan, who are playing an important role in improving trade and economic relations between the two countries.
Chinese companies have completed survey in Pakistan to kick start several projects particularly in the energy sector, he said.
He saidthe Chinese leadership has contacts with the leadership of various Pakistani political parties, which are helping to strengthen bilateral relations.
Pakistan has an evolving strategic partnership with China, aimed at maintaining peace in the region, he noted.
He said Pakistan and China have conducted joint military exercises and Pakistanis are getting education and technical training in various fields in China and the two countries share their expertise.
China has executed a number of projects in Pakistan, including Chashma nuclear power plants, he added.
He appreciated the Chinese help for building Gwadar Port.
