SalmanBEIJING: Pakistan and China have reiterated the importance of further deepening and enhancing their strategic cooperative partnership and determination to take all weather friendship to new heights.

The consensus to this effect was reached during a meeting between Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir and top leader and State Councillor Dai Bingguo held here at Zhong Nanhai on Friday.

Pakistan's Ambassador to China Masood Khan and diplomats from Pakistan Embassy also participated in the meeting.

Both sides underscored the validity of Pakistan, China strategic cooperative partnership in promoting regional peace, security and prosperity.

"We had useful exchange of views and there was complete convergence on all issues" Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir told APP on Saturday.

Both sides at the meeting were on same page on bilateral as well as regional and international issues, he noted.

The importance of visit of top leadership from both the countries to commemorate the 60th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and 2011 the Year of Friendship declared by them was also discussed.

The Foreign Secretary was on a visit to China at the invitation of Zhang Zhijun, the first Vice Foreign Minister of PRC and led Pakistan's delegation at the 4th round of Pakistan, China Strategic Dialogues held at Chinese Foreign Ministry on Thursday. Salman Bashir also held detailed meetings with China's top government officials and corporate leaders in Beijing.

He met Yang Wen Chang, President of China People's Institute of Foreign Affairs a top think tank body on China's International relations.

At the meetings with various corporate leaders, Salman Bashir informed in detail the initiatives of the present government for encouraging foreign investors for investment in Pakistan and the favourable enviornment available for Chinese entrepreneurs.

It may be noted that most of the top Chinese brands are already doing excellent business in Pakistan, they included China Mobile, Huwai, ZTE, etc.
