QUETTA: US Ambassador to Pakistan Cameron Mentor on Thursday called on Speaker Balochistan Assembly, Mohammad Aslam Bhootani at his chamber in the Balochistan Assembly premises on Thursday.
Political situation, overall development process and ongoing uplift schemes particularly in education, health and irrigation sectors in Balochistan came under the discussion during the meeting.
The meeting lasted for quite some time.
The leaders of the parliamentary parties in the Balochistan Assembly were also present on the occasion.
Speaker Balochistan Assembly informed the visiting Ambassador about the legislation made in the provincial assembly during last three years.
Referring to Pakistan's role in war on terror, the Speaker Bhootani urged the US envoy to recognize the sacrifices rendered by the Pakistan against the militancy and extremism.
"We are proud of our armed forces," he said adding they were playing significant role against the anti-peace elements.
American Ambassador lauded the endeavors of the Pakistan for maintaining peace in the region.
Later, Speaker Bhootani gave a reception luncheon in honor of the US Ambassador which was also attended by the parliamentary leaders of Balochistan.
