Euro falls to session low against the dollar

NEW YORK: The euro fell to a session low against the dollar on Wednesday ahead of a speech by President Barack Obama where he is expected to propose cutting ballooning US budget deficits by $4 trillion over 12 years.

Obama shared details of his plan with Democratic and Republican lawmakers ahead of the speech at 1:35 p.m. EDT (1735 GMT).

The euro was last down 0.3 percent against the dollar at $1.4441 after going as low as $1.4433, according to Reuters data. The dollar was up 0.1 percent against the yen at 83.70
