LONDON: Europe's main stock markets closed sharply lower on Tuesday, with London's FTSE 100 index of leading shares down 1.47 percent at 5,964.47 points.
In Paris, the CAC 40 fell 1.54 percent to 3,976.60 points and in Frankfurt the DAX lost 1.42 percent to 7,102.91 points.
