KARACHI: The world-acclaimed novelist J.K. Rowling has launched a unique online book club for young readers.
She has also promised to speak to fans about the supernatural world of Harry Potter in a live web-chat later this year.
Rowling's US publishers, Scholastic, which also developed the website, claim it will be a site for fans of the British boy wizard and an aid for parents and teachers who want children to develop reading habit.
“The Harry Potter Reading Club is a direct response to that feedback and provides an entry point through which the thrill of these books can be shared with new generations of Harry
Potter fans both within and beyond the classroom," Ellie Berger, president of Scholastic Trade, said in a statement announcing the club.
Rowling will release her first book since the Potter franchise came to an end later this year, titled ‘The Casual Vacancy.’
The new novel is said to be the author's first book aimed at a solely adult readership.
Although the reading club website is aimed at grabbing the attention of young readers, the
adults are also thrilled at the prospect of Rowling’s live web-chat with fans.
