HAMBURG: Tunisia's state grains agency has issued an international tender to purchase some 42,000 tonnes of soft milling wheat and 50,000 tonnes of feed barley, European traders said on Thursday.

The origin was optional. Tender deadline is Friday, July 14, they said.

The wheat was sought in two consignments, one of 25,000 tonnes and one of 17,000 tonnes for shipment from Sept. 1 to Sept. 30, depending on origin selected.

The barley was sought in two 25,000 tonne consignments for shipment between Aug. 15 and Sept. 25, also depending on origin.

Chicago wheat prices fell 2 percent on Thursday to a two-week low after larger than expected supply forecasts from the US Department of Agriculture countered recent concerns about weather damage to US spring wheat.

In its last reported wheat tender on June 14, Tunisia's state grains agency purchased around 25,000 tonnes of soft milling wheat and 25,000 tonnes of feed barley from optional origins.
