ISLAMABAD: Former pacer Shoaib Akhtar on Saturday called for an operation clean-up in the team and management saying just think of the next game which could end the World Cup for the Green-shirts.
Shoaib disappointed upon the Green-shirts loss to West Indies by 150 runs on Saturday, advised the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shahryar Khan to get rid of the clutter present at the management level.
"I could have told you before that if Pakistan had won the toss and fielded first, there is no way that they could have chased a total," he said while talking to a private news channel.
Shoaib said a reshuffle of the team is needed now and think of the next game against Ireland which could end the end of our World Cup.
"If in 1992 World Cup Imran Khan could go into bat ahead of Javed Miandad at one down position, then is n't Misbah a better batsman than Imran so that he can easily take the same decision?" he questioned.
Shoaib said Pakistan need to get rid of batsmen who keeps on playing shots without thinking of the game situation. "I will request Younis Khan to tell the team management that he wants to return home as he is unable to score runs," he said adding Younis failed to score runs which are not acceptable.
Shoaib said it seems Misbah-ul-Haq has been managing his own career for the past 4 years. "Why won't Misbah come in to stabilize the innings at 1 down position or even to shield Younis Khan," he questioned.
Shoaib said Misbah comes at the end of every game and tries to explain defeats with excuses. "I am in India and people are laughing at us saying is this the team we used to be afraid of," he said.
