ISLAMABAD: Pakistan cricketer Imran Nazir feels youngster Usman Khan Shinwari can trouble even the greatest batsmen with his swing but needs to be groomed.
Imran, who made his debut in Test cricket in March 1999 against Sri Lanka at Lahore, said Usman Khan has a lot of potential. "Usman can trouble even the greatest batsmen with his swing, but needs to be groomed," he said while talking to a private news channel.
Imran who was full of praise for Sharjeel Khan, Sohaib Maqsood, Umar Akmal and Bilawal Bhatti, said Sharjeel is very talented and has a lot of shots in his book. The best thing about Sharjeel is that he always wants to learn," he said.
"Sohaib Maqsood has a lot of cricket in him. I rate Sohaib Maqsood higher than Umar Amin," he said.
Imran said Umar Akmal has got everything including attitude problems. "Bilawal Bhatti is still young and needs to be groomed. He is one of the fastest bowlers in Pakistan right now," he said.
Speaking of Twenty-20 captain Muhammad Hafeez, he said Hafeez has to step up and lead from the front. "When a captain is not living up to the expectations, it is the duty of the senior players to back the juniors," he said.
Imran said there is a lot of talent in Pakistan, but it needs to be identified. "The domestic matches should be televised in a bid to create awareness in the public," he said adding that the pitches in domestic cricket are also well prepared and offer everything for the players.
