Plan to promote inland fish farming

Published Updated

fish-stalSIALKOT: A well-knitted plan has been evolved for the promotion of inland fish farming across the country.

Official sources told APP on Sunday that the country had 13,000 fish farms and more than 50,000 people were into the business in the country.

The provincial fisheries department has taken concrete steps for the promotion of fish farming and is providing fish seed to interested persons in Punjab.

Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) has made a feasibility report to facilitate people interested in setting up inland fish farming in the province. Nine acres of land is sufficient for a fish farm wherein eight ponds can be built, sources added.
