ISLAMABAD: Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani has said that employees are the core asset of the Senate and their welfare is of paramount importance so that they can work efficiently.
He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Senate Secretariat Employees Welfare Fund at the Parliament House on Tuesday, says a press release.
Chairman Senate underscored the need for improving the working conditions of the employees as most of the branches and offices located in the basement area operate under sub-human conditions.
Members of the Committee gave proposals for assistance of the employees of the Senate Secretariat. It was proposed that need assessment of the employees be carried so that genuine needs of the staff could be elicited.
Chairman Senate observed that the rules in this regard need to be reframed and proposed to hold meeting of the Executive Committee after every three months.
The Committee also disposed off the agenda mainly related to the financial assistance of the employees in its today's meeting.
It is pertinent to mention that this was the first meeting of the Executive Committee of the Senate Secretariat Employees Welfare Fund.
The meeting was attended among others by Senators Col (R) Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi, Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Saeed Ghani, Ilyas Ahmed Bilour, Chaudhry Tanvir Khan and Mohsin Aziz.
Secretary Senate Amjed Pervez Malik, earlier, gave a detailed briefing on the SSEWF and said that the main objective of the fund is to ensure welfare of the Senate employees.
He also apprised the committee that the fund was established in 1990.
